During a recent campaign event at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Vice President Kamala Harris found herself in a heated exchange with an anti-Israel protester who accused Israel of committing genocide.
A video capturing this incident shows the moment when a protester, wearing a keffiyeh, interrupted Harris as she spoke to the audience.
“I understand your concerns. I advocate for a cease-fire and want to see hostages released,” Harris stated emphatically.
The protester interjected loudly, “But what about the genocide? What about the genocide though?”
In response, Harris remarked, “I respect your right to express yourself; however, I am speaking now,” which prompted applause from those present.
The individual was subsequently removed from the venue but continued to voice his objections outside.
“What about the billions sent to Israel?” he shouted. “And what do you say about 19,000 children dead without calling it genocide?”
After his removal, Harris addressed her audience again and appeared to acknowledge some validity in his claims regarding Israel’s actions.

Past Incidents Reflecting Similar Views
This isn’t the first time that Vice President Harris has been perceived as aligning with sentiments critical of Israel during discussions surrounding its conflict with Hamas. In 2021, she nodded in agreement when a student at George Mason University accused Israel of ethnic genocide and emphasized that such perspectives should not be silenced.
The student had raised concerns regarding U.S financial support for both Israel and Saudi Arabia, framing their argument around allegations of genocide against Palestinians.
A Call for Democratic Expression
Harris expressed appreciation for students voicing their opinions on these matters during democratic discourse: “Your voice matters; your experiences must be acknowledged.” She reiterated that democracy thrives on diverse perspectives being heard openly.
