- Judith Kent joined Kamala Harris’s campaign efforts on Sunday.
- Kent engaged with voters door-to-door in Lansing, Michigan.
- Dimon has not publicly backed any presidential candidate for this election cycle.
On Sunday, Judith Kent, wife of JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, took to the streets of Michigan to rally support for Vice President and Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris. This initiative is part of a broader effort to engage voters ahead of a pivotal election.
Kent has been married to Dimon for over four decades and was seen canvassing neighborhoods in Lansing. A representative from the Harris campaign confirmed her involvement during an interview with Maggie Haberman from The New York Times.
The state of Michigan is critical for Democrats aiming for electoral success this week.
“I am honored to support and engage with voters about the importance of voting for the Harris-Walz ticket,” stated Kent in remarks shared by the campaign team with Andrew Restuccia from The Wall Street Journal.
Kent expressed her belief that both Harris and Walz are committed to creating a brighter future for all Americans.
Representatives from both Kent’s team and the Harris-Walz campaign did not respond when approached by Business Insider regarding further comments.
As it stands, Jamie Dimon has refrained from endorsing any candidates during this election cycle. In an interview published on October 8 by Bloomberg News, he mentioned he was still contemplating whether or not he would endorse someone.
“As a citizen who can vote freely and express my opinions without restriction; I have never been one to endorse candidates. However, I am considering what my stance will be,” said Dimon during that discussion.
In contrast to his current position on endorsements, former President Donald Trump indicated earlier that he might consider appointing Dimon as Treasury Secretary if elected. He expressed admiration for him during an interview featured in Bloomberg Businessweek last July.
A week later though, Trump retracted those statements via Truth Social claiming he had “never discussed or thought about having Dimon as Treasury Secretary.”
On October 4th Trump posted an image suggesting that Dimon had endorsed him; however a spokesperson from JPMorgan quickly refuted these claims stating that “Dimon has not endorsed any candidate,” according to Grace Eliza Goodwin at Business Insider.
This year alone Judith Kent contributed over $250k towards both Kamala Harris’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee based on records obtained through Federal Election Commission filings.
The support behind Kamala Harris extends beyond just Judith Kent—numerous influential women across various sectors have also rallied behind her candidacy. Notably in September pop icon Taylor Swift praised her leadership qualities calling her a “steady-handed leader.” Just weeks later Beyoncé also voiced her endorsement after allowing use of her song “Freedom” throughout campaigning efforts earlier this year.
Additonal Supporters:
Harris’s backing includes prominent philanthropists like Melinda French Gates who emphasized how crucial November’s elections are through social media posts advocating reproductive rights among other issues vital towards societal progress.“We need leaders willing stand up reproductive freedom while understanding caregivers’ roles lead healthier families stronger economies,” she remarked adding “when women thrive society thrives.”
