Introducing the New White Steam Deck OLED: A Limited Edition Release
Following its previous release of a transparent Steam Deck OLED last year, Valve has unveiled an exciting new limited edition model in a striking “white” color. Priced at $679, this variant will be available starting November 18. It boasts the same impressive hardware as the 1TB Steam Deck OLED, including a stunning 7.4-inch display that features HDR capabilities and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. Additionally, it comes with a matching white carrying case.
While it’s true that white gaming consoles can present challenges—such as showing fingerprints and smudges more readily—this fresh design may entice existing Steam Deck users to upgrade their devices.
A Leap Forward in Display Technology
As highlighted in our review, the display on the Steam Deck OLED offers significantly enhanced visuals compared to earlier LCD models, particularly due to its HDR support. This time around, Valve has committed to distributing this limited edition white model globally wherever Steam Decks are currently sold, including markets like Australia.
Valve’s Vision for Future Variants
“We are eager to gauge customer reactions and will utilize this feedback to guide our future decisions regarding potential new color options,” Valve stated in an email communication. “Our goal has always been to enhance the Steam Deck continuously; this applies not only from a software standpoint—with ongoing updates—but also from a hardware perspective with innovations like the Steam Deck OLED and other upcoming projects.”
