The Future of Asus ROG Ally and SteamOS Integration

During our assessment of the Asus ROG Ally from ⁣last year, we‌ expressed several concerns regarding the difficulties associated with using a poorly optimized version of Windows. This was particularly pronounced when drawing comparisons between‌ the ROG Ally’s⁢ performance and that of Valve’s Steam Deck, which boasts a meticulously refined SteamOS 3 designed ‍specifically for handheld use.

Positive ⁤Changes on the Horizon

However, it seems that some issues with⁣ the ROG Ally could soon be resolved as Valve has announced ongoing efforts to officially facilitate SteamOS 3 installations on Asus’s gaming handheld device.

The initial indication of this initiative surfaced when references to support for “additional ROG Ally keys” unexpectedly appeared in the recent ⁣release notes for SteamOS. Moreover, in ‌an interview with The Verge, Lawrence Yang from Valve confirmed these notes pertain directly to future support for third-party devices running on SteamOS. He further elaborated that development is actively progressing toward extending compatibility⁢ to more ⁣handheld platforms featuring SteamOS.

This development is not just promising; it’s an exciting evolution in enhancing ⁢user experience across various devices within the portable gaming landscape.
