On my latest trip to Cabo, I decided to rent a car and explore some stunning nearby locales.

  • This was my first experience renting a vehicle during my numerous trips to Cabo.
  • Making that choice turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, allowing me to engage with local life in a richer way.
  • If you’re headed to Cabo soon, I strongly suggest considering a rental car for greater exploration of the area.

I have visited both San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas countless times for various events such as weddings, bachelorette parties, birthdays, and personal getaways.

Having discovered the top accommodations (like Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal and Drift San Jose del Cabo) as well as excellent dining spots (including El Farallon and Flora Farms), I’m knowledgeable about where to swim (Medano Beach) and who offers whale-watching tours (In Cabo).

Despite being something of an expert on this region, I’ve usually followed the same itinerary with every visit. However, during my most recent trip, I decided it was time for an adventure—I rented a car!

I conducted some preliminary research on driving rules (which were pretty straightforward) and picked up my car directly from the airport. Reflecting on this travel planning adjustment makes me appreciate how significantly it enhanced my overall experience in Cabo.

A Car Opens Up New Adventures Beyond Central Cabo

This time around instead of remaining rooted in downtown Cabo’s vicinity, having access to a rental vehicle allowed me the freedom to venture further into Baja California’s magical landscapes.

I drove roughly an hour northwest along stunning coastal roads towards Todos Santos. En route, I stumbled upon an adorable organic market called Agricole Cooperative that likely wouldn’t have crossed my path otherwise.

The charming Agricole Cooperative was truly delightful.

Prior research revealed its famed dessert featuring strawberries topped with cream—a recommendation that did not disappoint once sampled!

Todays Santos enchanted me so much that I chose to dedicate an entire day unraveling its corners.

A fabulous seafood meal awaited at Oystera—a stylish oyster bar—before perusing local boutiques such as Nomad Chic and Zocalo along Todos Santos Road.
After treating myself ice cream from Baja Tasty shop; then making just a short ten-minute drive later brought me straight into cozy Peradero Hotel nestled closely among nature’s splendor.
Sitting amidst beautiful architecture seamlessly contrasting yet blending intimately within its enchanting desert garden vibes felt surreal!
