Compensation for MacBook Users Affected by Keyboard Issues
Apple has commenced issuing compensation checks to customers impacted by the malfunctioning butterfly keyboards in their MacBooks. This move signifies the conclusion of a prolonged issue involving unresponsive or malfunctioning keys that affected users of Mac laptops manufactured from 2015 through 2019.
Details on the Class Action Settlement
These payments stem from a substantial $50 million settlement reached over a class action lawsuit regarding these keyboard issues in 2022. Claimants who submitted their applications during the designated filing period last year are entitled to receive amounts ranging from $50, $125, or even up to $395, contingent upon the frequency and seriousness of repairs undertaken. In June, a judicial order mandated Apple to initiate these disbursements.
Among those receiving checks is Jennifer Pattison Tuohy, a reporter for The Verge, who specializes in smart home technology and was awarded the maximum payout due to her reported circumstances.
