Incidental to the recent mixed reviews surrounding the performance of AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series, the company noted that enhancements in Windows 11’s forthcoming 24H2 update are anticipated to optimize CPU scheduling, thus elevating the efficiency of their new CPUs built on Zen 5 architecture.
However, instead of compelling users with Ryzen processors to await this update later in the fall or opt into a beta version of a significant OS modification, AMD and Microsoft have proactively implemented these scheduler enhancements into Windows 11’s current version, designated as 23H2. Utilizing this feature is straightforward for those operating on Ryzen models from series 5000, as well as series 7000 and the latest series 9000—users can download the KB5041587 update. To achieve this, simply navigate to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Optional Updates.
“We anticipate that any performance gains observed will closely resemble what users will experience with both updates when KB5041587 is applied,” an AMD spokesperson informed Ars Technica.
