However, in light of new data showing Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz with a distinct multi-point edge nationwide, Trump’s narrative has shifted to labeling these polls as “fake.”
Recent findings reveal that Harris and Walz are currently leading their Republican opponents by several points on a national level. This noticeable gap prompted inquiries from Fox News during an interview with Senator JD Vance just recently.
### Allegations of Fabricated Polls
Vance remarked during the segment that “the media deploys deceptive polls to dampen Republican voter enthusiasm and foster internal strife among GOP supporters.” He emphasized an optimistic outlook for the Trump campaign: “I assure every viewer, we’re in an excellent position to secure victory.”
Notably, he referenced past instances where polls failed to accurately predict outcomes—highlighting 2016’s major miscasting that saw many analysts forecasting an easy win for then-candidate Hillary Clinton against Trump.
It’s interesting how critiques from the Trump team concerning polling data arise primarily when trends appear unfavorable. Conversely, any favorable shift is met with prompt acknowledgment by the former president.
For example, Trump’s team highlighted insights from ABC News which showcased both Biden and Harris facing substantial losses against him in hypothetical scenarios on July 12. They shared these sentiments widely via email communications based on findings from 538—formerly overseen by Nate Silver—and affiliated with Disney.
In another instance this past September, excitement swept through Trump’s circle following a poll released by ABC News alongside Washington Post analytics indicating he was ahead of “Crooked Joe Biden” by ten percentage points in direct matchup scenarios.
### Perspective Shift Following Recent Polls
During Sunday’s Fox broadcast interview, Vance discussed newly published figures revealing that the Harris-Walz ticket possesses a five-point lead over their competitors among all adults surveyed; this lead swelled further amongst likely voters who supported them at a six-point margin.
Adding to this trend are results from The New York Times coupled with Siena College showing strong support for Harris within pivotal states such as Arizona and North Carolina while also demonstrating rising popularity in Nevada and Georgia territories.
Vance urged his fellow Republicans not to succumb to defeatism regarding these survey results. “We can’t focus solely on what those numbers indicate,” he declared. “There exists evidence suggesting she may be plateauing.”
The senator concluded confidently stating: “Engagement with Americans shows us we will be rightfully positioned come November.”
